Gelt

This project offers a fresh interpretation of a nostalgic memory rooted in a Chabad Hasidic tradition: the distribution of Hanukkah gelt. It seeks to renew this custom and give it a playful, contemporary feel by integrating a central holiday symbol, the dreidel.
Here, the coin takes on a functional role, becoming the axle and handle of the spinning top, and the entire piece fits back into its small, iconic bag. By bridging the gap between tradition and design, the work imbues this custom with new, interactive meaning.
