Hamsa
The Hamsa is an ancient protective emblem shared across various cultures, composed of two central elements: the hand, representing strength and protection, and the eye, which watches over and deflects the 'evil eye'. In this piece, I discovered the 'eye' of the symbol naturally within the raw material, finding it in the wood knot, a feature often referred to in Hebrew as an 'eye'. While the industry typically views these knots as flaws or points of weakness to be avoided, here, the knot is reclaimed as the heart and focal point of the object.
